Do not be afraid to be yourself – A Poem

by Yelyzaveta Kravchenko

A change from our usual content, SpeakFreely is happy to share this poem written by 15-year old Ukrainian student Yelyzaveta Kravchenko.

It is not a crime,

When a boy is crying.

We forget the real feelings,

Why the kids have to be reminded

About being a child, saving personality…

Tell me, adults, why do you behave so cruelly sometimes?

Alright, we got used to it…

The social networks are telling us about fighting for your dream,

But, guess, for what?

We have a choice to choose, don’t we?

The dream is near, but people don’t believe in it.

My bad, that’s you, who told yourself,

Always comparing with others,

That it’s your fault, that your dreams are so big,

And you just have the head in clouds. I guess, it’s time to make some changes,

It’s action time, don’t wait for “perfect Monday”!

Next Monday…it might be too late!

And…everything is up to YOU, but not to others!
